HELPING STUDENTS AVOID SHIFT SHOCK

2008 National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Annual Conference
San Antonio TX, November 20-23, 2008

Friday Session #C34

In isolated communities, students lag behind the technological and cultural tide.
After graduation these students are left in shift shock as they attempt to survive in a rapidly changing world.  Three teachers from Mid-Carolina High School in Prosperity, South Carolina, present how they use literature and technology to shift their students’ thinking and prepare them for tomorrow.
