Farewell

June 8, 2007

Dear Piedmont Students and Parents,

I want to thank you for a wonderful ten years at Piedmont.  It is time for me to move on and pursue some other educational passions, particularly writing and starting my PhD in Educational Leadership.  You know how much I believe in public education and the capacity for schools and teachers to make a tremendous and positive difference in our society.  I will miss Piedmont, my colleagues, and you, but I feel a great responsibility to deepen the scope of my work in this profession.  I do not know exactly where the next few years will lead me, but I am excited about new possibilities.

Beginning June 11th, I can be reached at j.morrison@artofeducating.com.  Please continue to visit my website, www.artofeducating.com, for pictures, poetry, and other information of interest to past and present Piedmont eighth graders and their families.  Thank you again for your support and faith.

Best regards, Jennifer Morrison

Wow…I want you to know that I am happy for you, but a little sad for those students who will never
get to experience you as their instructor. Thank you so much for all that you’ve put into my Jasmine.
I am sure she left her mark there at the school. Good luck in all of your endeavors and please keep
in touch. Peace and blessings and my wish for a wonderful summer is extended to you!

Best wishes as you move forward in this stage of your life and career. May God continue to bless you
and sustain your passion for teaching and learning and giving. Nia grew in your class and is doing well at
Harding University.  I'd like to continue to develop her writing skills, so any summer camps or
programs you could recommend will be appreciated. Good luck in your new pursuits. Piedmont will
suffer a loss but  ultimately, public education will gain! Be blessed and thanks for including past
parents in your email. - Denise Hockaday, Nia Hockaday's Mom, Class of 2006

Jennifer - I am so happy for you. What an exciting part of your life. Joshua just finished his first year
at North Meck IB. He has grown about 6 inches and he is maturing now. Thank you so very much for
all you have done for Joshua and all the other students. It is very clear that you have our children and all
other children and their learning at heart. You were truly an angel to me and my family at a very rough
time in our lives and I just want to thank you for all you did for Josh.  I will never forget you and all you
did to help Joshua.  Please stay in touch and let me know everything that is going on in your life. You
are an awesome teacher and friend to many. Love, Emily Cook

Dear Ms. Morrison - Thank you for sharing with us your plans for the future. My son, Mark Hatcher,
and I wish God's Blessing on you. He really enjoyed your class when he was one of your students at
Piedmont.  He had a good year at East Mecklenburg.  Good  and dedicated teachers are hard to find
therefore I know you will be missed at Piedmont.  HAVE A BLESSED SUMMER AND MAY GOD
CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU IN THE FUTURE!!!!  Thanks again, Mark and Santha Hatcher
